Funimation is an American entertainment company that produces, sells, and distributes Japanese anime and other entertainment in the United States to international markets. We present five unique anime series from the Summer 2021 lineup available on Funimation that you shouldn’t miss, whether subtitled or dub!

5. Tantei wa Mou, Shindeiru. (The Detective Is Already Dead)

Kimizuka Kimihiko was born with a predisposition to get into trouble. If he walks on the street, he will be dragged into the Flash Mob. If you go into the alley, you will witness the “fairy dust” transaction scene. As for the crime scene, face-to-face encounters are common. One day, when he didn’t understand what was going on, he was given a strange suitcase and put on a plane to fly directly abroad. Midway through the flight, the flight attendant asked if any of the passengers were detectives, and the silver-haired girl sitting right next to him raised her hand. She is Siesta, a self-proclaimed famous detective. Siesta immediately invited him to be his assistant to solve the case together. After that, the two began their fanciful adventure, but it all came to an abrupt end after Siesta’s death. Kimihito tries to return to her normal and boring life, but it’s not so simple, as the detective is dead.

The Detective Is Already Dead has a pretty unique beginning where we knew from the start that Siesta was going to die. However, it still retains the element of mystery and leaves you wanting to know more. While there are some flaws with this anime’s animation, it still manages to keep its fans thoroughly engaged with its plot.

4. Vanitas no Carte (The Case Study of Vanitas)

There was once a vampire called Vanitas, hated by his fellow humans for being born under the blue full moon, as most appeared on the night of a crimson color. Fearful and alone, he created the “Book of Vanitas”, a cursed grimoire that he will one day avenge all vampires; this is how the story goes at least. Vanitas no Carte follows Noé, a young man traveling on a spaceship in 19th-century Paris with one goal in mind: to find the Book of Vanitas. A sudden vampire attack leads him to meet the mysterious Vanitas, a doctor specializing in vampires, and to the surprise of Noé, a completely normal human. The mysterious doctor who inherited both the name and the infamous text from Vanitas lore, used grimoires to cure his patients. But behind his kind demeanor lurks something a little more sinister.

Case Study of Vanitas is a great anime set in the gothic era of the 19th century that has captivated everyone. While the anime starts off pretty typical, it subverts all the typical expectations normally associated with such a predictable plot. All the characters are extremely well written and really engaging from the very first episode, this is one of those anime series that you should watch!

3. Re-Main

The story revolves around Minato Kiyoumizu, a boy who quit playing water polo after an incident in the winter of his third year of junior high. After entering high school, he made a promise and decided to try water polo again and join the school team with his friends. However, the new team will encounter problems in the process…

Re-Main could be one of this season’s hidden gems. Designed by MAPPA, animation and plot are on par. While the plot might seem pretty mediocre at first glance, there’s something truly amazing about the anime that sets itself apart in the best possible way. This is one of those anime series that you shouldn’t miss!

2. Genjitsu Shugi Yuusha no Oukoku Sankenki (How A Realist Hero Rebuilt The Kingdom)

“Bloody charm, hero!”. With that silly line, Kazuya Souma found himself summoned to a new world and his adventure began… Normally it would be but in this anime it didn’t, the adventure didn’t start. head. After he presented his plan to consolidate the country in both economic and military directions, without hesitation, the king “easily” ceded the throne to him and Souma found himself shouldering the burden of ruling an entire country. big rub the fire! Furthermore, now that you’re betrothed to the king’s daughter…!? In order to bring the country back on its feet, Souma called on the nation’s talents to join him. Five people were gathered in front of Chef Souma… Oh, wrong, the newly crowned King Souma. What is their real talent?

How A Realist Hero Rebuilt The Kingdom is a breath of fresh air for those frustrated with the clichés that anime isekai uses today. The best thing about Kazuya is his intellect and this is shown in the various political battles that take place throughout the anime. Not to mention Kazuya often reminds us of Sora from No Game No Life, so definitely give this anime a try!

1. Uramichi Oniisan (Life Lessons with Uramichi-Oniisan)

Do you like guys with multiple personalities? Omota Uramichi, 31, plays a gym teacher in the educational TV show Together With Mom. He may be sweet, but everyone is sure to be scared to see past that person’s dark side, which is the result of Uramichi’s emotional instability…. This is a tragic tribute to all grown-up boys and girls!

Uramichi Oniisan is the best comedy of this season. Each episode in this anime contains a lot of puns but you don’t have to be Japanese to understand them all. Anime will make you laugh out loud with each episode because of its confusing humor. There’s just something so endearing about the characters that makes you feel attached to them and you can’t help but think they’re your friends. So this is one of those anime you shouldn’t miss if you like the funny part of life!
